Aerodyne Research, Inc. (ARI) has provided research and development (R&D) services to commercial and government clients working to solve national and international problems since 1970. We design, build and sell high sensitivity, fast time response instrumentation for environmental air quality monitoring and atmospheric research. These instruments include our IR Laser Trace Gas Detectors (TILDAS), and our particle optical extinction monitor and ultra-sensitive nitrogen dioxide monitor, both based on incoherent optical sources and the Cavity Attenuated Phase Shift (CAPS) method. We also provide mass spectrometric instrument technologies for the characterization of atmospheric trace gases and particulate matter, the instruments include the Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (AMS), Chemical Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometers (CIMS), and the Aerosol Chemical Speciation Monitor (ACSM).
Aerodyne’s family of IR laser trace gas monitors provide real-time molecular monitoring with fast time resolution (as fast as 10 Hz) and with exquisite sensitivity – in the low parts per trillion range for many species. These instruments include single and dual laser monitors that allow the detection of a variety of trace gas species, such as NO, N2O, NO2, NH3, HONO, HNO3, CO, CH4, C2H4, C2H6, HCHO, CHOOH, SO2, COS, O3, HOOH, PH3 and others. We also specialize in quantifying the isotopes of CO2, CH4 and N2O. ARI development work allows us to continually add to our list of molecules detected and increase the instrument’s sensitivity for each of these instruments.
